Before we discuss meditation methods, it would be remiss of me to not discuss virtue. The five precepts are a prerequisite for successful meditation practice. You who want to cultivate the mind, keep the precepts.
The first three kinds of cultivation are reminiscing the buddha, reminiscing the dhamma & reminiscing the sangha.
[This will result in concentration when done correctly. Consider that the checksum for these practices]
The next three kinds of cultivation are remembering that oneself will die, remembering that someone else will die & remembering that everyone will die.
[This too will result in concentration when done correctly. Consider that the checksum for these practices]
The final three kinds of cultivation are the perception that one’s own body is uninspiring, the perception that someone else’s body is uninspiring & the perception that everyone’s bodies are uninspiring.
[This too will result in concentration when done correctly. Consider that the checksum for these practices]
One of these will work out for you. What does this mean? It means that you’ll be able to do it for a long time. It means that results will come easily & consistently. It means that The skill ceiling will be high.
Now that you know - experiment & practice.
